FAQ
Why a Design Day or Build Week instead of a longer engagement?+
Most product problems don't need a quarter, they need a week of focused attention. Fixed scope and fixed price means we both know what's getting shipped, when, and for how much. If a problem genuinely needs longer, we'll scope it as a series of weeks or a custom engagement.
How do I know which one I need?+
If the work needs to end up in a Figma file, that's a Design Day. If it needs to end up in production, that's a Build Week. Still unsure, book a discovery call and we'll figure it out together.
Who's the designer? Who's the engineer?+
Default is me, on both. I'm your point of contact from the discovery call to the handover on every engagement. When a project needs extra capacity, I bring in a small group of contractors I've worked with for years. People I trust, briefed by me. No agency layer, same standards, you still deal with me throughout.
Why use Pretty Epic instead of hiring full-time?+
A senior design engineer in the UK costs £80k+ a year fully loaded, plus three to six months to find the right person. Pretty Epic gives you the same skill set this week, on a fixed-price engagement, with no commitment beyond the work agreed.
What's the deliverable?+
Design Day, a Figma file with annotations, a one-page rationale, and a 30-min walkthrough. Build Week, a feature designed and built on a branch in your repo, plus tests, plus a handover doc, plus the walkthrough.
Who owns the work?+
You do. The Figma file and any code I write for you are yours, full ownership, day one.
What if I'm not happy with the output?+
Design Day, you get one round of revisions in the week after. Build Week, I'm in the work for five days with daily check-ins, which means we catch issues as we go. Beyond that we'd scope a follow-on engagement.
Do you sign NDAs?+
Yes, happy to sign yours or use a standard mutual.
What's your stack?+
TypeScript across React, Next.js, and React Native. Comfortable with most modern frontend stacks, design systems, and component libraries. If your stack is something else, ask, I might still be a fit.
Where are you based?+
The UK. I work with clients globally, calls in your timezone, async otherwise.
Will I be charged VAT?+
Yes if you're UK based. VAT is 20% and added at the point of sign-up. If you're a VAT-registered business you can claim it back.
How do I get started?+
Book a discovery call. 20 minutes, no obligation, fixed-price proposal back the same day.
